A Man's Gotta Look Sharp Too...

It's 2011 & even though I have lots of looks I love for women, I have PLENTY of obsessions for men as well. There is nothing like a sharp on trend look for those boys... as a girl i can admit I basically melt. So what do I love the most so far for this years looks? I have a couple great trends to get you started.

1. Men's Long Sleeve Henley's: Ok, there is nothing sexier then a shirt that hugs a man's chest ever so tightly so you get a little taste of what's underneath. And there is no better material to do that with then a nice henley long sleeve tee. These look awesome paired with some dark jeans for the winter, but can be pulled off even in spring time with some shorts. Can we say yum-my?

2. Denim Button Down: Pairing denim with denim is no longer a fashion faux pas. It's actually a really rugged sexy look for men & it's coming back stronger this year than last. We saw a lot of girls pull off the look last spring, but in 2011 it's time for the men to rock it. My best advice is to pair the wash's in different shades. For example if you pick a denim top with a gray tint to it, make sure your jeans have a very blue wash. If you want to go a little on the Safari look you can always pair this top up with some cargo's. Whatever you chose, it's great for the Spring this year & can be rocked with some khaki shorts as well. As the words of Rachel Zoe, "It's beyond."

A good example of how to rock this look is by none other than Mr.Gyllenhaal. So effortless & so so smooth.

3. J Brand Jean's: J. Brand is a major player in the women's jean world. His jeans are on just about every celebrity imaginable & they all can't stop raving about how perfect they are (trust me, it's perfection). But how about J. Brand for men?? Oh yes, they are my favorite men's jeans because they always have a slim fit that is contoured to flatter all the "right" areas. If you want a pair of jeans that will be a sure bet to look amaze with any outfit you throw on, then invest in a pair of J's. I can guarantee you will not be sorry.

4. Monochrome Head to Toe: At the Milan 2011 Spring fashion week, one look that stood out big time for me was Bottega Veneta and his monochrome outfits. You would never have thought pairing the same color head to toe could look SO good, but he completely blew the runway out of the water. All I could think about is, Wow I want to see a guy in THAT right there. It looks so carefree and effortless, but yet so perfect. This was just a general look I liked from Bottega, but the basis of the button down tops/cardigans mixed with some looser fitting bottoms will surely be a crowd pleaser.

5. Tight Graphic Tee's (Jacks & Jokers) I can not stress now much I love a guy in a tight graphic tee, some light/medium wash jeans & a pair of aviators. That laid-back but still sexy look is something most girls heart skips a beat for. It's like we know your trying to show that chest off, but at the same time you look oh so good doing it. My top 2 brands for graphic tee's is Jacks & Jokers and Rebel Yell. They both have great prints to chose from & are made out of a vintage stretchy material that will fit like a glove.

There ya have it boys! I know your 2011 resolution is a shopping trip to pick up some new fits, so look for these trends in stores. You won't be disappointed by splurging on any of these looks, & it's sure to turn a few heads.

New Year, New Obsessions

Happy 2011 everyone! The year is off to a great start, and I wanted to share this years obsessions with you! There are tons of designers out there heating up, but I have a few personal favorites that I'm sure you will equally love.

1. Siwy Jeans. When you think of designer jeans you probably immediately have True Religions, 7 Jeans, Hudsons, Rock & Repub's, Joe's and J Brand pop into mind. As much as I love all my TR's there is a new contender on the scene & I have fallen madly deeply in love. Siwy jeans are totally hot right now & look flattering on almost any silhouette. Although Siwy is definitely not a new brand on the market, it just recently got the extra spark of attention that it deserves. Siwy has soft stretchy denim, that hugs your curves & make you look like the goddess you are. They're reasonable priced for designer denim, ranging around $120-$200 a pair depending on the wash & cut you chose. Total love.

2. Dogeared Jewelry. I made this lucky discovery when one of my amazing teachers at FIDM shared how she did marketing work for this Jewelry line. As soon as I checked them out I instantly understood why she took the job. The jewelry at Dogeared that I love the most is they have jewelry for occassions, such as "Pearls for Best Friends," or "Gems for Mother/Daughter." They have an entire Karma collection, Diamond collection, an I Heart Mom collection, etc. The list goes on forever, but these very specialized beautiful pieces are unique and classy. They have almost every theme and combo, even if you are looking for a special necklace or bracelet to share with your grandmother, bridesmaid, or just someone special in your life. I am a huge fan of pearls, & this year many of my Christmas gifts came from Dogeared.

3. Jeffrey Campbell. This is a shoe designer who is absolutely not afraid to be out of the box. Mr. Campbell creates shoes that are complete statement pieces. In his case its not the shoe that completes the outfit, it's the shoe that IS the outfit. Totally funky & daring styles that are beautifully constructed.

4. Joie This brand is very California, relaxed loose fitting look. But the trend this next spring season will not be super skin tight, we are looking to see lots of loose fitting dresses & tops. Even the gaucho pants will be coming back. With that in mind, Joie is already a step ahead of the game because this have this style completed perfected. I have my eye on a lot of their pieces, including some of these tops/dresses.

5. Minnetonka Last but not least, a personal favorite of mine. This brand is by no means new on the scene, but their flower child fringe style is being seen absolutely everywhere. This summer I had a pair of Indian fringe sandals that i absolutely died for. I wore them almost daily. Now that winter is here, Minnetonka has the perfect tribal looks for any kind of shoe style you prefer.

What are some of your new year obsessions? I don't know about you all, but I'm thoroughly excited to see what 2011 has to bring in the fashion scene. What new designers will pop up, and most importantly what we will be seeing on the Spring runway shows. I'll be keeping you updated every step of the way!
